Hidden loyalties

I had the great pleasure to make a new series of illustrations for the latest edition Goldfever of the wonderful Bahamontes cycling magazine. The article, aptly dubbed "The Art of Sabotage", talks about the various ways cyclists would cheat and fool their countrymen and colleagues in the national championships for their personal gain and hidden loyalties.

Being a bit of a cycling fan myself, with a yet unanswered crush on retro cycling jersey designs, I knew I wanted to do something in the illustrations with cycling jerseys. After indulging in researching the various jerseys from the fifties and sixties, I came up with the idea of the colorful jerseys, representing the different teams, being washed away by the rain, thus revealing the true colours, the actual loyalties of the cyclists.

Hi! I am a Belgian illustrator and visual artist, currently living and working in the alpine mountains of Italy.

I make illustrations for books, prints, editorials and campaigns for a variety of international clients, and always welcome new challenges.

When I'm not in my atelier, you can find me swapping my shoes for a pair of sturdy boots, either contemplating this year’s garden experiments, or hiking in the mountains while stuffing my pockets with all kinds of wild edibles.
